Cystitis – Bladder Infection

Here is a 5 minute video of how to use vitamin C to flush out urinary tract infections. Vitamin C is ascorbic acid.  When you take high doses, your urine becomes acidic and the microbes which cause the Cystitis cannot survive.

It fascinates how many advocates of ‘alkalinity’ recommend people achieve an alkaline urine pH without understanding what that means.

Your urine needs to be acidic, thereby draining the acidity OUT of the body and making it easier to maintain an alkaline internal environment. It is the saliva which should be at a pH of around 7.2 first thing on waking.  The urine should be between 5.8 and 6.2.

It stands to reason then that urinary tract infections may be more common amongst women (and men) who are poor at excreting their acids via the kidneys.  Certainly acidifying the urine has been shown to work for centuries, with the age old cranberry juice traditional remedy.

High dose vitamin C has been shown in reams of scientific studies to be one of the safest and most beneficial therapeutic interventions available to us for a vast array of ailments.

This ‘clinical pearl’ is both safe and elegant.  Act early.  Use high doses or it won’t work, and expect diarrhoea.

Please note that Baking Soda or Sodium Bicarbonate is an alkaliser. It has been shown in studies to be protective of the kidneys – but I believe one reason for this is that it buffers the acidity the kidneys would otherwise have to filter out and excrete.  For this reason I feel that the Baking Soda element of this suggestion may help the kidneys while lessening the acidity of the urine and possibly hindering the killing of the bacteria.

Vitamin C Note:

5,000 mg (5 g) of ascorbic acid is the suggested dose every 2 hours, up to at least 15,000 mg over 6 hours.

If you can only cope with ‘Buffered’ vitamin C, such as calcium ascorbate, magnesium ascorbate, potassium ascorbate and so on, you will need double the amounts, because only half of these is ascorbic acid and the other half is the buffering mineral.  So you will need 10,000 mg of ‘buffered Vitamin C’ or ‘Buffered Ascorbic Acid’ every 2 hours, up to 30,000 mg over 6 hours.
